MIP-TV News: MarVista Makes First Visit to MIP-TV

MarVista Entertainment, a newly formed distribution and production company, will make its first visit to MIP-TV in 2004. It will offer family-oriented entertainment, ranging from live-action television series, new and original TV movies to digitally re-mastered classics available for broadcast and DVD distribution.

“In less than a year, MarVista has amassed a significant library of 3,000 hours of programming to include timeless dramas, series and comedies. At this market, we have entered into the series arena and will be unveiling two series at MIP with what is best expressed as timeless content,” commented Fernando Szew, md of MarVista Ent. “And with our digitally re-mastered classics, we can provide evergreen programming that reaches from the past to the future to entertain the entire family.”

Michael Jacobs, MarVista’s president, production and distribution added, “In our commitment to provide family entertainment to the worldwide market, we are producing, acquiring and distributing over ten television movies and series per year. The most exciting television movies that we are bringing to MIP are SMALL TOWN CONSPIRACY, 19 MONTHS and SOUTH OF HEAVEN WEST OF HELL.”

Its 33 one-hour animated films, produced by Burbank Animation Studios of Sydney, Australia include: THE CANTERVILLE GHOST, based on Oscar Wilde’s story; THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY; ANNA AND THE KING; and Hans Christian Andersen’s THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES. All of the titles are digitally remastered and available worldwide for DVD distribution along with read-along-books and audio CDs.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Barcelona and Boston, MarVista owns the Whamo library, which contains 3,000 hours of programming along with 40 animated feature films. Included in the library are children’s and family live-action series, documentaries and holiday specials.
