Mike Young Productions (MYP) announced that renowned filmmaker-writer-actor Mel Brooks (THE PRODUCERS, HIGH ANXIETY, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, SPACEBALLS) will voice the role of Wiley the Sheep in the new half-hour CGI series, JAKERS! THE ADVENTURES OF PIGGLEY WINKS, based on original stories by Irish writer Denise Fitzpatrick. The series, a co-production from MYP, Entara Limited and PBS affiliate WLIW, features 26 episodes aimed at children aged 4-8. The show centers around Grandpa Piggley’s tales of childhood shenanigans in the Irish farmland of his youth, which entertain, inspire and educate his three very contemporary city-dwelling grandchildren. The series is currently in production at MYP. In addition to WLIW, PIGGLEY WINKS is set to debut on TG4, an Irish Gaelic-language channel, in 2003. MIPCOM Jr. attendees will get a sneak peek of the Brooks-voiced character during the screenings. At MIPCOM, MYP/Entara will be at Stand 04.05.
