Kenya-based Homeboyz, in partnership with the U.K.'s Tiger Aspect, is producing a new animated TV series titled TINGA TINGA TALES, reports VARIETY. Based on Kenyian and Tanzanian folk tales, the 52 episode series will launch this spring on BBC's CBeebies.

Tiger Aspect's head of animation, Claudia Lloyd, is overseeing the project. She crafted the idea for the series on her trips to Africa where she learned Swahili via children's books.

The style of the animation was inspired by Tanzania's Tinga Tinga paintings.

Tiger Aspect will use half the profits from the series to set up an education fund in Kenya and Tanzania.

Playhouse Disney will receive the series in 2011. Entertainment Rights controls the worldwide distribution rights.
