Eight companies that exited from the 2011 Tokyo Anime Fair (TAF) are teaming up for a new event, titled Anime Contents Expo, reports Variety. It will run from March 26-27, while TAF runs from March 24-27.

Aniplex, Animate, Kadokawa Publishing, King Records, Geneon Universal Entertainment Japan, Frontier Works, Marvelous Entertainment and Media Factory are the firms putting together the event. The companies are making the move due to TAF sponsor, the Tokyo metro government, and its proposed legislation that would curb graphic sex in anime and manga.

Other major publishers, such as Kodansha, Shueisha and Shogakukan, have also pulled out of TAF.

Last year, TAF had more than $130,000 visitors.
