DIC Entertainment has licensed its package of original feature length animated movies, 39 films in all, to Nickelodeon for broadcast on Sunday afternoons beginning in October 2002. The deal represents the biggest production order DIC has had in its twenty year history and calls for DIC to deliver the 39 movies over three years. "We have put together a team of incredibly talented award winning writers, producers and directors," said DIC CEO Andy Heyward. "They are currently in production on the first thirteen films, which includes movies based on some of the most powerful and recognized titles in family entertainment." The afternoon block of programming, aimed at 6-14 year-olds, will include features based on DIC series' INSPECTOR GADGET, SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH, MADELINE and DENNIS THE MENACE as well as popular tales like THE TIME MACHINE, THE LOST WORLD, BEN HUR and TREASURE ISLAND.
