Family entertainment producer and distributor Chorion has signed a broadcast and licensing deal for its new property GASPARD & LISA with French broadcaster TF1.

TF1 recently acquired Chorion's OLIVIA at MIPCOM.

TF1 is planning a licensing and merchandising campaign to include a gift range, apparel, toys and games for GASPARD & LISA, which will sit alongside publishing and will launch following the show's TV debut in 2010.

The 52x11 animated television series is based on the book series written and illustrated by the Paris-based husband and wife team of Anne Gutman and George Hallensleben. Chorion secured the television and merchandising rights to GASPARD & LISA from Hachette Livre, the original publisher and worldwide publishing owner of the property. To date, the 25 books have been translated in more than 15 languages worldwide.

In Japan, GASPARD & LISA is a retail licensing success, with a vast array of products targeted to young women and families.

Almost inseparable, Gaspard and Lisa barrel their way through days filled with comic misadventures. True to the lives of six-year-olds, they live from moment to moment, often facing unexpected consequences that inevitably lead to catastrophe. Undaunted by whatever obstacles they encounter, their exuberance is matched only by their innocence. Gaspard and Lisa have already figured out that life is twice the adventure when you have a best friend.
