Quincy Smith announced that he will step down as CEO of CBS Interactive in January to start an independent advisory business, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Smith will continue to advise the CBS division he's led since November 2006 on strategies and opportunities for growth.

"Quincy helped put CBS Interactive on the map and we are now a top 10 presence in premium content," said CBS Corp. president and CEO Leslie Moonves.

CBS said there are no plans to replace Smith.
