Cartoon Network has pre-bought Marathon’s forthcoming animated series, TEAM GALAXY. The two-season package (52x26) is budgeted at $16-17 million, making it one of the most expensive productions outside a major studio. Set to start airing in the fall, the series has also been picked up by France 3, Italy’s RAI, Jetix and Canada's YTV.

"It is a huge sign of confidence in us that Cartoon Network has chosen the project without having seen a single episode," said Marathon president Vincent Chalvon Demersay.

“We are honored to work with Cartoon Network on this new show and we are confident that TEAM GALAXY has all 'the right stuff' to be a smash success both on- and off-screen.” said David Michel, gm of Marathon Animation.

“We think Marathon can translate the success of TOTALLY SPIES to their next fun, comedy action-adventure series TEAM GALAXY,” said Terry Kalagian, vp of acquisitions and co-productions for Cartoon Network. “We are confident that TEAM GALAXY will win over a whole universe of new fans at light speed.”

The CG/2D series for kids ages 6-11 is set at Galaxy High, where the students are trained to become “space marshals.” The series follows the intergalactic exploits of three outrageous heroes, Josh, Brett and Yoko, forced to multi-task between the tribulations of their “regular” teen lives and high-flying space adventures.

Marathon, which also produces and distributes fiction and documentaries, is finalizing its merger with former rival Tele Images, creating France's biggest production firm.
