London, UK -- Production companies Famous Flying Films and Mackinnon & Saunders are very pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement with CBeebies for their new stop motion comedy series Calamity Island.

Devised by Koala Brothers creator David Johnson, the series will consist of 52 X 7 minute episodes and will launch in 2014.

Calamity Island charts the misadventures of two lovable, comically inept sailors who find themselves shipwrecked and having to share a tropical island with its quirky inhabitants – chief of which is a mischievous penguin. With its emphasis on visual comedy, the show has broad appeal and the ability to cross barriers of age and culture.

Alison Stewart, Head of CBeebies Production, Animation and Acquisitions said, “We are delighted to be working with Famous Flying Films and Mackinnon & Saunders on this series, which we’re sure will become a favourite with our viewers, and have them laughing out loud!”

David Johnson, of Famous Flying Films, said, “It’s a dream come true to have CBeebies’ support for the show, and with the team at Mackinnon & Saunders on board, I believe we’ll be able to create something very special for kids”.
