Vancouver-based Bardel Entertainment Inc. has landed a deal with Mega Bloks Inc. to develop the top-selling DRAGONS toy line for an animated TV movie, which will air on Canada’s TELETOON.

“We’re very excited to work with Mega Bloks and bring the DRAGONS universe to the big screen,” said Bardel’s ceo Delna Bhesania. “These toys are already a huge hit and the evolution into a feature film is a natural progression. Kids are going to love this.”

The DRAGONS story features a world of mythology, mighty armies, warriors and sorcerers that clash with powerful ‘Dragons’ and a world ruled by mysterious and magical 'Krystals'. “The Dragons toy line creates a whole fantasy land that lends itself to classical storytelling and allows the audience to step into another world,” said Vic Bertrand, evp/coo for Mega Bloks.

Bertrand also notes, “Since its launch in 2002, DRAGONS toys have become a favorite of children looking for a fantastic, immersive, building experience. It’s a perfect fit for fantasy filmmaking, where an already blockbuster lineup comes alive on the big screen.”

The DRAGONS TV movie and video feature, combining 2D and 3D animation, will launch fall 2004. The combination of both 3D and 2D animation creates a visual effect that will not only complement the brand but also enhances the viewers’ experience.
