Anime Network, the first dedicated anime network in the U.S., plans to acquire more anime programming for its growing digital network at the upcoming MIPCOM market in Cannes, October 10-14, 2003.

“With the diversity of programming available at MIPCOM, we expect to discover new sources for content which we can then bring back and introduce to American viewers, ” said Anime Network president Kevin Corcora. “We’re also anxious to meet and explore other opportunities for our sister companies, including ADV Films and NewType USA.”

The Anime Network launched in December of 2002 as part of Comcast Cable’s free video-on-demand initiative, is available to approximately 1.2 million customers. It has since secured wider distribution via deals with RCN and Cablevision Systems Corp.

Beginning in September 2003, Anime Network will provide high def anime content to iN DEMAND’s INHD and INHD2 subscribers. The content will be available in wide screen, high-resolution format and will feature Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, when available.

The Anime Network, a subsidiary of Houston-based A.D. Vision, Inc. (parent company to ADV Films and Newtype USA), is the first cable channel in North America dedicated to Japanese animation. For more information about the Anime Network, check out www.theanimenetwork.com.
