Tehran Animation Festival Announces Winners

The 5th Tehran International Animation Festival, which ran from Feb. 25 to March 1, announced the winners at a ceremony held at Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) on March 1, 2007. TRAVELER OF HORIZON by Hamid Bahrami took home the Best Film Award.

RETURNING HOME, directed by Behzad Farahat, won best animation in the domestic section, while ZERO DEGREE by Omid Khoshnazar won for best screenplay in the same section. SCREAM ROOM, directed by Sheida Zarrinfam, took home best experimental and NIGHT PARTY by Ebrahim Saketi garnered the prize for advertising films.

Majid Shakeri's ARIO, THE LITTLE HERO and Abdollah Alimorad's ONCE A CROW won for best TV film and best children-themed film respectively. A Special Jury Prize was awarded to THE LEGEND OF SNAKE-SHOULDERS (1): HOLY GRAIL directed by Hossein Moradizadeh while RUSTAM AND ESFANDIAR, directed by Mehrdad Jenabi, was honored with Best Music.

Honorary diplomas were bestowed to SPROUT by Farkhondeh Torabi, NO DAYS by Mohammadreza Khanzad, SOMETHING LIKE... by Maryam Khalilzadeh, THE DESERTED RESTAURANT co-directed by Maryam Abbaspur and Ramak Amin-Kazemi, and THE FLYING GRANDMA by Fatemeh Gudarzi.

In the international section, Best TV Film went to LITTLE PRINCESS: I DON'T WANT TO GO TO BED directed by the U.K.'s Edward Foster. Alexander Petrov's MY LOVE took home Best Film.

Honorary diplomas were given to ORANGE MARMALADES by Igna Korzhneva, SHERLOCK HOLMES AND DOCTOR WATSON by Alexander Bubnov, SARA'S TALE by Svetlana Filippova and THE MAN WHO WAITED by Thodore Ushev.

A Special Secretary Award was given to Torill Kove's Oscar winning short, THE DANISH POET.
