Teen/Tween Producer Tom Lynch Launches Animation Division

The Tom Lynch Co., indie maker of such teen/tween programs as SOUTH OF NOWHERE and ROMEO!, has launched a new division, Tom Lynch Co. Animation, specializing in animated programming for television, film and the Internet.

The new division debuts on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2006, at 8:00 pm on Cartoon Network with CLASS OF 3000, a half-hour series co-created with hip-hop star André 3000 Benjamin (best known as one half of the Grammy-winning musical group OutKast). Benjamin voices the role of the teacher, Sunny Bridges, a musical superstar who has left the building of fame to return to his childhood roots in Atlanta and teach a classroom of musical outcasts.

Having started my career in rock n roll, Im very excited to be going from tunes to toons, says Tom Lynch, who began his television career as the producer of NIGHT TRACKS and DON KIRSCHNERS ROCK CONCERT, and has since created and produced such acclaimed series as THE JERSEY, CAITLINS WAY, GALIDOR: DEFENDERS OF THE OUTER DIMENSION and SCOUTS SAFARI.

A web-based comedy/adventure series is one of the next projects for Tom Lynch Co. Animation. The webisodes following the journey of VOKI, an animated character created by Los Angeles artist Brendan Lynch, will be aimed at the 6-14 demo. Lynch plans to follow the VOKI series with an illustrated childrens book.

The Tom Lynch Co. has always been about illuminating the magic of the human experience, whether in drama, comedy, science fiction or adventure, said Lynch. Animation gives us fantastic new freedom to create characters, situations and concepts that can travel far and wide, artistically speaking, while remaining firmly planted in the reality of human nature.

The Tom Lynch Co. (www.tomlynchco.com) is headed by Tom Lynch, an innovator in the field of kids, tween and teen programming for the past 20 years. His groundbreaking debut series, KIDS INCORPORATED, was the first variety show for youngsters, and his series, THE SECRET WORLD OF ALEX MACK, was both the first series created for tweens and the first show to feature a tween girl as its central character. Lynch has continued to blaze new trails with such original programs as the Emmy-nominated SCOUTS SAFARI (filmed in South Africa) and ROMEO!, starring the real life musician Romeo and his father, music mogul Master P.
