Side Effects Software has announced that Walt Disney Feature Animation made a significant purchase of the company's Houdini 3D animation software package. Houdini has been used in many projects at the Walt Disney Company including FANTASIA 2000, GONE IN 60 SECONDS and TARZAN. "Houdini's flexible procedural paradigm helps our artists be more creative, while maintaining an efficient production environment," said John Carey, VP of technology at Disney. "With Houdini's custom panels and consistent, intuitive interface the software can be tailored to specific production needs and facilitate rapid deployment for non-technical artists." Tony Cristiano, general manager, Side Effects Software U.S., said, "We have been working collaboratively with Disney's team since 1994, providing 3D animation software and support on many of their projects. And we're delighted to expand that relationship worldwide. Disney has teams of highly talented artists, and we look forward to further supporting their sophisticated and demanding operations." Houdini is an award-winning 3D animation software package that includes a comprehensive set of capabilities for digital content creation including modeling, animating, compositing, characters, textures, shading and rendering.
