Alias|Wavefront announced on Friday, May 18, 2001, that its Maya Shockwave 3D Exporter plugin is now available as a free download from the Alias|Wavefront Website. The plugin can be used to transfer content directly from Maya into Macromedia’s Director 8.5 Shockwave Studio. A special Website has been set up within the Alias|Wavefront site where the plugin, technical information and examples are available. “Alias|Wavefront is committed to the Shockwave platform as a high quality 3D Web content publishing path for Maya customers,” stated Mike Wilson, director of Maya Interactive at Alias|Wavefront. “The new 3D capabilities of Shockwave will introduce the broad base of Internet users to fully interactive 3D games, educational and e-commerce material. We are very excited to be helping to further this goal through the development of an industrial strength export path specifically optimized for Director and the Shockwave platform.” The Maya Shockwave 3D Exporter plugin consists of the Maya RT Scene Checker, which serves as a high-speed Maya scene optimizer, and the Maya RT Export Express, which allows for rapid fine-tuning of Maya content for the newly released Shockwave web 3D player. Like Director, the Maya Shockwave 3D Exporter plugin will be available in both Windows and Macintosh versions. For more information visit www.aliaswavefront.com.
