Ascension Technology Corporation, manufacturer of motion tracking devices, has introduced winBIRD, a versatile program that allows users to experiment with Ascension’s products in a standard Windows environment. For use with single and multi-sensor or multi-transmitter configurations, winBIRD lets users change all major device and system options while monitoring how the changes affect returned data. With winBIRD, new users can quickly learn about their tracking system and its capabilities and experienced users can explore their trackers’ capabilities while collecting and saving data for further analysis. For devices that support distortion detection, winBIRD helps measure the amount of metal and noise interference in the environment. For multiple transmitter systems, winBIRD offers easy switching between transmitters. For multi-sensor systems, winBIRD graphically displays each sensor separately. winBIRD is free and can be downloaded at ftp:ascension-tech.com/winBIRD. Download instructions and Windows Installer are available on the ftp site if needed. winBIRD supports RS232, ISA, PCI, TCP/IP products and has a minimum requirement of Windows 98.
