Technicolor Takes Over Paprikaas

Technicolor has confirmed that it has bought out the minority shareholders of Paprikaas and now owns the Bangalore-based animation studio entirely.

Technicolor has confirmed that it has bought out the minority shareholders of Paprikaas and now owns the Bangalore-based animation studio entirely.

According to a spokesperson, the staff there has grown to more than 800, which includes some VFX seats being managed by Technicolor-owned MPC team.

Last year, Tim Sarnoff, former head of Sony Pictures Imageworks, became president of Technicolor Digital Prods., which continues its expansion into CG animation, partnering with DreamWorks Animation as well as Nickelodeon (THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR and, as reported by VARIETY, MERRY MADAGASCAR and the upcoming direct-to-DVD, SCARED SHREKLESS).
