TeamTO and Thuristar Start Production on ‘My Knight and Me’

Five broadcasters on board new CGI animated medieval comedy series produced by leading French studio TeamTO.

PARIS, FRANCE -- French CGI studio TeamTO has started production on My Knight and Me, an original CGI animated medieval comedy for 6-11 year olds. The series is a co-production with Thuristar, with the participation of broadcasters Canal+ Family, Teletoon+, Super RTL, VRT-Ketnet, RTBF-Ouftivi and distributor Cake Entertainment.

“It is with great anticipation that we await the launch of My Night and Me, on Canal+ and Télétoon+,” said Laurence Blaevoet, Director of Kids programming at Canal+. “Modern everyday heroes accomplish extraordinary challenges, in incredible settings worthy of a classic Chivalry film – all with tremendous humour. This show genuinely has all ingredients of a great show.”

My Night and Me stars Jimmy the Squire and Cat the Princess, best friends at Epic High. Cat likes Jimmy’s humor, creativity and street smarts, while Jimmy loves to hang out with Cat because she’s fun, daring, and has a totally refreshing way of thinking. Cat is a big fan of Jimmy’s dad, Henri of Orange, a passionate knight who is all about the chivalry. He might not be the most efficient knight in the realm, but as far as Cat is concerned, he sure is the funniest! Cat and Jimmy, together with the help of Henri, are set out to make the Middle Age a little less dark and a lot more fun!

My Night and Me is a spinoff of Thuristar’s 850 METERS, a short film by Joeri Christiaen, also co-creator with Thierry Gaudin and director of the series. The show includes short imaginary 2D sequences produced by Thuristar used to enrich the storytelling and comedy, while TeamTO will use its expertise in high-quality 3D animation, to create charismatic characters and the rich, detailed world of the series.

“We are very excited to produce a second series with Joeri Christiaen,”  commented TeamTO executive producer Corinne Kouper. “The quality of his pacing is simply remarkable, while his very particular and distinct sense of humor is one-of a kind. The series will be a completely anachronistic, innovative and hilarious spoof on chivalry.”

The music, by Belgian composer Frederik Segers, will play an important role in the episodes and contribute another fun dimension to the series. Segers’ original compositions will instill contemporary music with a medieval feel that kids will love.  Delivery for the series is planned for the end of 2016, with its French debut on Canal+ Family and on Super RTL in Germany.
