Taming Golden Compass Polar Bears With MatchMover Pro

REALVIZ will be joining U.S. reseller partner Simulistic on Dec. 7 at the Reston Multiplex Cinema in Reston, Virginia, for a special screening of New Line's THE GOLDEN COMPASS.

Prior to the film, there will presentations on the latest in 3D technology from REALVIZ and a select group of other software vendors, as well as the opportunity to meet with local Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk MotionBuilder users from the greater Washington, DC area.

At the event, REALVIZ will present the latest version of their acclaimed tracking software, MatchMover Pro, which was a key tool for Framestore CFC in their work on a number of pivotal scenes for the film.

"Our tracking team created nearly 200 cameras for THE GOLDEN COMPASS with no major problems in a relatively short time frame, and to a terrific standard," explained Michael Thompson, head of Tracking at Framestore CFC. "I think this shows just how reliable, quick and accurate REALVIZ MatchMover Pro is and how seamlessly it integrated into our work flow.

"Framestore CFC created one of the main characters in the film: Iorek Byrnison, the armored bear, as well as numerous other effects. "It was therefore imperative that our work was to be set at a very high standard and our tracks had to reflect this. Whatever the shot demanded, be it characters or background elements, REALVIZ MatchMover Pro handled them all easily and quickly.

"There are a few other matchmoving options available on the market, but REALVIZ MatchMover Pro was the preferred solution to provide high quality tracked cameras quickly and with minimal fuss, which is exactly what you need -- especially when any delays at this stage would set back the whole production pipeline schedule."

At the event, REALVIZ will also be showcasing their video-based motion capture software, Movimento, as well as the REALVIZ HDR Imaging Studio. A second day of in-depth demonstrations of the REALVIZ products will also take place on Dec. 11 at the offices of Simulistic in Great Falls, Virginia. Both events are free of charge.
