SUPERNATURAL actor Jared Padalecki is in final negotiations to star as an investigator in FRIDAY THE 13TH, a remake by Platinum Dunes for New Line and Paramount, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
The original FRIDAY was released by Paramount in 1980 and gave audiences their first brief glimpse of classic horror villain Jason. The new film, slated for a February, 13, 2009 release (FRIDAY THE 13TH on Friday the 13th), will focus on Jason in his iconic hockey mask.
Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the script, and Marcus Nispel is directing. Producers are Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. New Line's Cale Boyter and Guy Stodel are overseeing.
Padalecki stars as one half of the ghost-hunting brother duo on the CW's SUPERNATURAL, and has screen credits including HOUSE OF WAX and CRY WOLF.
