Stuttgart Fest Issues Animated Com Award Call for Entries

The Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart issues a call for entries for the Animated Com Award; the deadline for submissions is February 1, 2013.

There’s a reason to celebrate in 2013: The Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart (ITFS) will take place for the 20th time! And in its anniversary edition, too, the ITFS will offer a platform to directors and production companies to present their films as well as a chance to fans of animated film to watch animated short and feature films, to meet well-known filmmakers and young talents, and participate in numerous workshops, informational events and presentations for six days.

The Animated Com Award as one of the most important amongst a multitude of competitions in the course of the ITFS 2013 is now open for submissions in the field of applied animation.

Animated Com Award

The Animated Com Award awards the standard of excellence in the field of animated advertising, technology and spatial communication. “COM” stands for both the words commercial and communication. Amongst the partners will be the Art Directors Club Germany (ADC). Films can be submitted for the Animated Com Award as of October 15, 2012. They must be produced after October 01, 2011.

Special Award Mercedes-Benz Classic: Silver Arrows

As part of the Animated Com Award of the ITFS 2013, a Special Award is offered by the Daimler AG again – aiming at the myth of the „Silver Arrow“. All interested national and international filmmakers – students from film and animation schools as well as young companies – are invited to animate the famous German Grand Prix racing cars of the 30s and 50s in a personal and innovative way. The passion for car racing should be visualised and expressed in a playful manner. All techniques ranging from 3D computer animation to 2D cel animation and Stop Motion are accepted. The maximum length of the films mustn’t exceed 5 minutes.

The Animated Com Award is endowed with prize money of about 18,000 euros in total.

The award ceremony will take place on April 26, 2013 in the Mercedes-Benz Museum.

The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), April 23 – 28, 2013, was founded in 1982 and is one of the largest and most important festivals for animated film worldwide. Prize money of 65,000 Euros is awarded in nine competition categories. The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film works in close co-operation with the FMX, Europe’s biggest Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Interactive Media, attracting industry professionals. Together with the FMX and Michael Schmetz Media Consult the ITFS holds the business platform Animation Production Day.
