Studio B Productions has launched a new television commercial production department. The Vancouver-based animation firm specializes in traditional 2D and 3D animation techniques. Michael van den Bos will serve as the head of the new commercial department. Prior to working with Studio B, van den Bos was producer at International Rocketship and worked with clients such as Levis, Nintendo and Nickelodeon. In addition to in-house directors, Marv Newland and Dieter Mueller of International Rocketship will be working as freelancers for the Studio B commercial department. "We're delighted to now offer advertisers a new one-stop shop," said Blair Peters, co-founder and partner, Studio B Productions. "Were able to manage everything from sound to production to editing in-house which makes Studio B both a creative and affordable choice for advertisers." Van den Bos said, "This is a new direction for us and one where we see a lot of interesting synergies. Our characters from YVON OF THE YUKON, WHAT ABOUT MIMI? and D'MYNA LEAGUES have already achieved significant exposure to different demographics on a national basis which gives us a head start when pitching for commercials."
