Stop Mo Expo Announces Lineup

ASIFA-Hollywood has announces more details about the guests and events that will be part of its Stop Mo Expo, which will take place on April 21, 2007, at Woodbury University, located at 7500 Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank, California. There will be two big events. The first is a group of panels and seminars running from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The lineup includes:

* Stop Motion in the Computer Age -- moderated by Edward Chiodo* Ask the Experts -- moderated by Tennessee Reid Norton* Stop Motion Education -- moderated by Larry Loc* Sets, Lighting, Camera -- moderated by Jim Aupperle* Evolution of Stop Motion Animation -- moderated by Stephen Chiodo

The second event is a film festival of rare, classic and current stop-motion animation that will run from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. From 6:00 to 8:00 pm, there will be a screening of films on modern media DVD/VHS. Some of the films scheduled are:

* THE GREAT COGNITO by Will Vinton* AFRICA PARTINGS by Robyn Yannoukos* BLOOD AND SUNFLOWERS by Christiane Cegavske* VISCOUS CYCLES by Len Janson & Chuck Menville* SERGEANT SWELL OF THE MOUNTIES by Len Janson & Chuck Menville* KEEP IT DOWN by Max Maddox & Brady Serwitz* BUTTER DOVE by Jean Ngo* RAGING RUDOLPH by Corky Quakenbush

From 8:00 to 10:00 pm, there will be a screening of rare 16mm stop motion films from the Mark Kausler Collection. Some of the films to be screen are:

* THE MASCOT by Ladyslaw Starewicz* Philips Radio Commercials ('30s) by George Pal* Rare Puppetoons by George Pal* Various Eastern European Stop Mo ('30s)

Running concurrently with these two events is a Stop Motion Animation Jam by professionals, students and members of the Movies By Kids program.

There will also be a display of Stop Motion Artifacts including part of the Oogie Boogie set from NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS from the ASIFA-Hollywood Archives, the stop motion model from AFRICA PARTING and a number of items from Chiodo Bros. productions.
