The Playlist reports that Steven Soderbergh is second unit directing on THE HUNGER GAMES. Soderbergh is good friends with director Gary Ross, having produced Ross' PLEASANTVILLE. Soderbergh is a notoriously fast filmmaker and this hot property needs fast because it's due in theaters on March 23, 2012.
Based on Suzanne Collins' novel, the story is set in a future where each district of a divided U.S. sends two young competitors into a death match, which is televised.
