Santa Monica-based commercial and film production company Steam has added creative directors Rob Legato and Ron Ames and executive producer Marcy Frey to their roster. Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor Rob Legato will be working with Steam as creative director. Rob continues to be represented by Sony Imageworks for feature film visual effects assignments. His credits as a visual effects supervisor include HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE, CAST AWAY, WHAT LIES BENEATH and ARMAGEDDON. He earned an Oscar for TITANIC, and two Emmy Awards for STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and DEEP SPACE NINE. A graduate of the Brooks Institute with a Master's in Cinematography, Rob began his industry career as a live-action commercial producer. His work at Steam marks Rob's return to commercial projects. Joining Steam from Crash Films, creative director Ron Ames has worked as a director in several different disciplines, including commercials, episodic television and theater. Executive producer Marcy Frey comes to Steam with a varied industry background. Marcy studied Broadcasting and Electronic Communication Arts at San Francisco State University and recently helped build the production department at Creative Advertising Services, Mattel Toy's in-house hybrid production company and advertising agency.
