Her hiring follows the addition of feature titles from Starz’ Overture Films and Anchor Bay Entertainment, as well as original series from Starz Entertainment, to a rapidly growing slate of Starz Media programming. Gene George, executive vice president of worldwide distribution for Starz Media, made today’s announcement.

Among the Overture Films titles she’ll be bringing to the domestic TV market are the soon to be released Law Abiding Citizen, the dramatic thriller starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx;, Pandorum, starring Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster; Righteous Kill, starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino; Traitor, starring Don Cheadle; and second windows for Mad Money, starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes, as well as Nothing Like the Holidays, starring John Leguizamo, Freddy Rodriguez, Debra Messing and Albert Molina.

Besides selling the Overture and Anchor Bay Entertainment titles, Dixon will seek all post-pay TV licensing opportunities in the U.S. for Starz Media’s original content. The roster includes an expanding slate encompassing the acclaimed “Crash” and “Head Case,” as well as the highly anticipated action drama “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” which premieres in January 2010 on Starz.

“Alecia is an extraordinary executive whose broad distribution experience gives her a unique insight into the constantly changing world of television,” George said. “As we have moved on all cylinders to ramp up every aspect of our television, film, DVD and ancillary businesses, including significantly raising our original and acquired programming output, we know Alecia’s vast industry knowledge of the domestic and worldwide markets will be significant in our growth.”

Dixon most recently served as senior vice president of international pay television and digital media at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where she oversaw MGM's international pay television licensing business. Earlier, she was vice president of worldwide pay television after being elevated from executive director, in which her duties included evaluating U.S. basic cable deals and their impact on business plans.

As director of worldwide distribution services at MGM, she was responsible for sales administration throughout Europe, Africa and Middle East. Dixon has also held posts at Cannon and Pathe Communications, among others.
