Stan Lee & Matrix Creators Team On New Conan Film

Stan Lee Media (SLM) has signed a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to develop a new feature film based on the Conan character. Andy and Larry Wachowski, creators of THE MATRIX, have signed on to produce with CONAN THE BARBARIAN director John Milius set to write and direct. The deal allows SLM to exploit the brand across several media outlets with an animated series in the works for television and Internet distribution. SLM only bought the rights to Conan from Conan Properties, Inc. in September. "I can't wait to work with the Wachowski Brothers, the creative geniuses behind THE MATRIX, and John Milius who launched Arnold Schwartzenegger's career with the first Conan film. This is a fantasy come true for me," said Stan Lee, who is set to executive produce the film. Stan Lee Media president and CEO Ken Williams added, "Our relationship with Warner Bros. Pictures affords us the best opportunity to fully revitalize one of the best loved global fantasy properties. Stan Lee Media will be driving that global rebirth through feature film, television, Internet and merchandising." This new deal is SLM's second film development pact. In June 2000, SLM inked an agreement with Mark Canton and The Canton Company to develop the Webseries 7TH PORTAL into a feature length picture.
