Squidbillies premiered on Adult Swim in October 2006. Creators Dave Willis and Jim Fortier, both Georgia natives, worked as writers and producers on Space Ghost Coast to Coast. When Adult Swim launched in 2001, Jim Fortier wrote and produced for The Brak Show, and Dave Willis co-created Aqua Teen Hunger Force which has since been retooled as Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 in 2011.
