Strengthening its Latin American management team in Miami, Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has appointed Angel Orengo to vp, distribution, Latin America and the Caribbean. Orengo will oversee all SPTI program distribution to free, basic and pay TV services and platforms in Latin America and the Caribbean, working closely with SPTI's worldwide distribution, sales planning and finance teams in Los Angeles. He will also be responsible for continuing to develop SPTI's new media opportunities in the region with cable and satellite operators and new entrants in the digital space. He reports to Keith LeGoy, SPTI's svp/md of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Orengo and SPTI's marketing team will also work with broadcasters to ensure that SPTI's movies and series are optimally positioned, scheduled and marketed to deliver the highest possible ratings, share and value to the broadcasters and their viewers and advertisers. Additionally, he will work with independent producers and distributors to explore ways in which SPTI can develop distribution opportunities.
"Angel's knowledge of the region combined with his experience within SPTI will help us continue to expand our distribution efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean," said LeGoy. "As we broaden our relationships and explore new revenue streams in the region, we are pleased to have someone with Angel's qualifications lead our experienced sales team."
Orengo assumes responsibilities previously held by John Cuddihy, SPTI's svp, sales & distribution, Latin America and the Caribbean.
