SPTI Promotes Wald To SVP Of Worldwide Pay Television

Mike Wald has been promoted from vp to svp of Worldwide Pay Television at Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI), reporting to Peter Iacono, evp of sales, SPTI. Wald will remain based at the studio's Culver City, California headquarters and continues to oversee all worldwide pay television activities for the studio, managing SPTI's relationships with major domestic and international pay television clients.

In announcing Wald's promotion, Iacono said, "From his earliest achievements in advancing Sony's television presence in Asia to his ongoing and substantial contributions to the studio's pay television growth, Mike has done an outstanding job of representing the studio and its business interests in the worldwide marketplace. Mike's experience and knowledge of the pay television sector has enabled Sony to make tremendous strides in growing its pay television relationships and revenue as he continues to advance opportunities with pay television outlets around the globe."

Wald joined Sony in 1994, working for the studio's corporate development division in Los Angeles and then in Hong Kong where he was instrumental in establishing the company's presence throughout Asia, most notably through his contributions to the launch of AXN and his involvement in the studio's other channel investments. In 1998, Wald focused his efforts on SPTI's pay television business as director for that division. Two years later he was promoted to vp of International Pay Television.
