SpongeBob Gets Best Day Ever & Bowie

In anticipation for the debut of the latest half-hour SPONGEBOB special titled BEST DAY EVER, Nickelodeon will air a 45-episode marathon of fans favorite episodes of the positive poriferan. Beginning on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at 8:00 pm, the marathon will close with the debut of the special on Friday, Nov. 10, at 8:00 pm.

Voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny, as his Patchy the Pirate character, will host the marathon. To fan viewer interest, Nick will premiere the BEST DAY EVER music video on Oct. 26.

In the special, SpongeBob is determined to have the perfect day. His ideal day starts with doing what he loves best working at the Krusty Krab, going to meet Sandy for a little karate, jelly fishing with Patrick and topping it all off with Squidwards clarinet recital. However, to his great disappointment, the day doesnt go at all as he planned. Each of his friends seems to be having a different problem, so naturally he sets out to help them. In doing so, every activity on his perfect day is spoiled. As SpongeBob realizes that he sacrificed his whole day to help others, his friends rally around him with their heartfelt thanks.

Nick will support the special with a dedicated site at www.nick.com/turbo throughout October. The site includes an original themed SPONGEBOB game and other broadband content. The site also gives fans the chance to watch clips from the show and vote for their favorite episodes. Each week, fans will be able to pick their 10 favorite of 40 episodes. This top 45 episodes will air during the marathon. Additionally, TurboNick 2.0 will stream the marathon online simultaneously with the on-air content.

Additionally, Nick will release a SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: BEST DAY EVER CD, which features such musicians as The Beach Boys Brian Wilson, The Ramones Tommy Ramone and Flaco Jimenez. Moreover, Nickelodeon and Holiday Inn will host a BEST DAY EVER themed party called Bikini Bottom Bash and a 24-hour marathon of SPONGEBOB episodes on an in-room channel.

In addition, during the press tour for his new movie, THE PRESTIGE, David Bowie revealed to the ASSOCIATED PRESS that he will voice the new character, Lord Royal Highness, in a SPONGEBOB special set to air in 2007.
