Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation returns to San Diego to celebrate its 20th anniversary; the festival kicks off Saturday, August 24 with a one-night-only opportunity to meet & greet Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi.

After a five-year hiatus, the Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation is back in San Diego! Spike and Mike, the dynamic duo at the screaming edge of avant-garde animation, have returned to San Diego -- the festival’s royal birthplace -- to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the now world-famous animation festival.
“We are very excited to be back at the same location with a great new show,” say festival organizers. “Please note this is NOT the New Generation Show we did earlier this year. This is the SICK & TWISTED show, something TOTALLY DIFFERENT!”
The festival kicks off on Saturday, August 24, with a one-night-only opportunity to meet & greet Ren and Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi, and runs through November 23 at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla, CA.
Saturday, August 24 John Kricfalusi (One Night Only!)
A rare opportunity, guests can meet & greet with and get autographs from opening night special guest, Ren and Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi. This creative giant is also the Director of famous music videos by industry giants the likes of Bjork, The Rolling Stones, Weird Al Yankovic, and Jack Black of Tenacious D. John has also directed or worked on Cartoon Network or Saturday Morning shows the likes of Superfriends, Smurfs, The Jetsons, Yogi & Boo Boo, Richi Rich, The Snorks, New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Tom and Jerry, as well as Fox’s The Simpsons. The list doesn’t stop there, it goes on! John will be selling special merchandise this night only. Guests are encouraged to bring Ren & Stimpy toys to get them signed.
September 13 & 14 Voice Actor Billy West
Guests can meet & greet with and get autographs from legendary voice actor Billy West. His resume includes voicing over 30 Futurama characters, including the popular main characters Fry, Dr. Zoidberg and Professor Farnsworth. He is also the voice of Ren & Stimpy, the Red M&M and numerous Looney Tunes characters, and a former Howard Stern Show cast member.
Selected Films
Screenings will take place at the very same historical venue where Beavis and Butthead, Matt Stone & Trey Parker’s The Spirit of Christmas, Wallace & Grommit and Tim Burton’s first film were premiered.
Spike & Mike have scoured the world to assemble an AMAZING lineup of THE BEST CLASSIC FILMS FROM THE PAST 20 YEARS, including the UBER-famous Tim Burton, the most outrageous Sick & Twisted film ever made, Quiet Please by Mike Grimshaw, as well as BRAND NEW SICK & TWISTED TITLES from around the world including several entries from the UK filmmaker Cyriak, films from YouTube’s biggest animation channel Mondo Media & more! More than 25 films in all will be screened.
