Spacetoon’s ‘MIA’ Arrives on Kids’ TV

CG-animated preschool adventure series for 2-6-year-olds co-produced by Spacetoon affiliate Lalune Light Studio, France’s Cyber Group Studio, and Canada’s Sardine Production.

Spacetoon, the free-to-air kids' channel that broadcasts in Arabic to 22 countries and more than 130 million viewers, has announced the arrival of MIA.

The first co-production ever undertaken by Spacetoon, MIA is an enchanting new 3D CGI comedy adventure series for 2-6-year-olds. It tells the story of MIA the mouse, her grandmother Mimi and their friends, a spider, a frog, a turtle, a bat and a rat, who share the big house on Victoria Street. The animals live in the nooks and crannies of The Big House and make ingenious use of the objects the human owners leave lying around. Everyday items, like sardine cans, jars, stamps and whisks, become beds, tables, framed art and even parts for a moon buggy. There’s fun and excitement to be had from this engaging new series. MIA has a strong environmental message and educational underpinning, it is based on award-winning educational software translated into 17 languages and sold in 40 territories across the world.

This highly anticipated TV production, based on characters and materials created by award-winning content developer Kutoka, is a co-production between Spacetoon affiliate Lalune Light Studio, Cyber Group Studio of France, and Sardine Production of Canada. MIA launches on the Spacetoon TV channel in late 2015 and will soon be launched at the main TV stations in Malaysia and Indonesia. It will also appear on TiJi in France, SRC in Canada TV and on a number of European stations in the coming year.

As MIA launches on TV screens in a number of territories, licensing demand is expected to be strong. With this in mind, a MIA toy line has already been developed. It was presented at BLE and will be on show at a number of other major trade fairs including Toy Fair in London and the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair, both of which take place in January 2016. SpaceToon & Lalune light Studio will be managing the licensing campaign for MIA across a number of major territories.

Fayez Weiss Al Sabbagh, President of Spacetoon Kids TV, commented, “MIA is a beautifully designed, wonderfully written and brilliantly realized animated series that derives wonder and learning from the everyday through the adventures of a group of charming and delightful characters. It has already enjoyed a positive response from broadcasters and educators in a number of territories and will, I am sure be a very popular show with children and parents alike.”
