Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE) has just released the first expansion pack for EVERQUEST II and the 10th for the original EVERQUEST.
EVERQUEST II DESERT OF FLAMES, marking the game's first introduction to player-versus-player combat, is available now for the suggested retail price of $29.99. This expansion is in addition to regular updates subscribers have received throughout the past 10 months at no additional cost.
"We're very excited to have DESERT OF FLAMES out there for everyone to enjoy," said Scott Hartsman, senior producer for EVERQUEST II. "The Arabian nights themed areas in this classic fantasy setting made for a place to adventure like nothing we've done before in this game."
In DESERT OF FLAMES, players will experience gameplay-changing features and can explore never-before-seen areas filled with new quests, monsters and loot. DESERT OF FLAMES is centered around the newly discovered, colorful city of Maj'dul. Set in an Arabian nights theme, players can choose to battle in special new arenas either against other players or against creatures in a new style of player-versus-player combat called Arena Champions. Other features include a dozen new zones and epic encounters, more than 30 new creatures, a level range increase to 60 for all players and new voice-over emotes for player characters.
Players who purchase DESERT OF FLAMES will get a magic genie bottle that will whisk them away to a secret location, and a special gazing orb for their character. In addition to in-game items, customers that purchase the retail version will also receive a limited edition collector's coin and poster map of the Isle of Ro. Those who purchase DESERT OF FLAMES digitally from Sony Online Ent. will receive both the genie bottle and an in-game painting for their character's house.
