Sony Offers Mary Jane, Lines Up More for Gwen

Deadline.com reports that Sony Pictures Entertainment has offered Emma Stone (ZOMBIELAND) the role of Mary Jane Watson in the SPIDER-MAN reboot.

Deadline.com reports that Sony Pictures Entertainment has offered Emma Stone (ZOMBIELAND) the role of Mary Jane Watson in the SPIDER-MAN reboot. She would star opposite Andrew Garfield (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Several actresses are still vying for the role of Gwen Stacy, who is being considered the primary female role in the film. The latest names added to the list include Dianna Agron (GLEE) and Georgina Haig (WASTED ON THE YOUNG). They join Mia Wasikowska (ALICE IN WONDERLAND) and Dominique McElligott (MOON).

Word is the studio wants to bring villain Venom into the mix and are looking at Philip Seymour Hoffman for the role.

Marc Webb ((500) DAYS OF SUMMER) is set to direct.
