Society Of Animation Studies At SAFO

The Society of Animation Studies (SAS) 2001 conference will takeplace in Montreal, Canada. The conference is timed to coincide withthe Student Animation Film Festival (SAFO) (October 18-21, 2001)where SAFO will present a seminar on animation study programs. AllSAS members are invited to participate to the seminar, scheduled onOctober 18, 2001. The theme of the 13th SAS annual conference isAnimation, Economics and Politics. Abstracts for papers on this orother subjects may be submitted digitally to by August15, 2001. Papers should be no longer than 500 words. The paperselection committee includes: Peter Rist, Concordia University,Montreal, Canada; Mark Langer, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada;and Michael Frierson, University of North Carolina, U.S.A. SAS isalso is seeking nominations from SAS members for the NormanMcLaren-Evelyn Lambert Award for the "Best Scholarly Book onAnimation." Books should have been published in 1999 or 2000 and canbe in any language. The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2001.
