The 13th Society of Animation Studies (SAS) conference will takeplace in Montreal, Canada. This year, the theme of the conference isAnimation, Economics and Politics. The paperselection committee includes: Peter Rist, Concordia University,Montreal, Canada; Mark Langer, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada;and Michael Frierson, University of North Carolina, USA. Theconference is timed to coincide with the Student Animation FilmFestival (SAFO) scheduled October 18-21, 2001 in Ottawa, Canada. OnOctober 18, 2001, SAFO will present a seminar on animation studyprograms. All SAS members are invited to participate. SAS is also isseeking nominations from SAS members for the Norman McLaren-EvelynLambert Award for the "Best Scholarly Book on Animation."
