Walt Disney will be releasing a sing along version of Walt Disney's Academy Award-winning classic MARY POPPINS. At Disneys El Capitan in Hollywood, a restored 35mm Dolby Stereo print of the classic 1964 film will feature on-screen lyrics of all the songs so that audiences can join in. Like a family-friendly ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW screening, moviegoers are encouraged to dress as their favorite character from the film. Prizes for best costume will be awarded at each show. The first showing will be August 3,2000 at 7:00 pm with a special appearance and performance by the Sherman Brothers, the Academy Award-winning songwriting duo. Other cast and crew members are also expected to attend. In addition, there will be three special midnight shows, on Friday, August 11, Friday, August 18 and Friday, September 1, 2000. Richard Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, said, "It's almost impossible to watch MARY POPPINS without singing along so we thought we'd create a special version of the film that would give fans a chance to really get involved. The El Capitan is the perfect venue for this fun-filled interactive experience and we think audiences are really going to have a great time. MARY POPPINS remains one of this Studio's proudest achievements and a timeless classic that audiences of all ages can enjoy. So relax those vocal chords, dress up as one of your favorite characters from the film and come out to the El Capitan for a one-of-a-kind experience."
