Silvergate Signs New 'Octonauts' Deal

Independent entertainment company Silvergate Media signs US children’s home entertainment distributor NCircle Entertainment as DVD and download-to-own partner for its hit property Octonauts.

New York --

Independent entertainment company Silvergate Media has signed US children’s home entertainment distributor NCircle Entertainment as DVD and download-to-own partner for its hit property Octonauts.

NCircle has secured the US home entertainment rights to seasons 1 and 2 as well as 4 specials of Octonauts and will launch the DVDs in autumn/winter 2013, following huge demand from fans of the show in North America.

Based on the richly imaginative books by award-winning design team, Meomi, Octonauts combines elements of classic team action-adventure with dazzling CGI animation to transport preschoolers into a world they can’t ordinarily visit…the ocean. The show will arouse the curiosity and feed the imaginations of preschoolers, answering questions in a journey of discovery through the world’s oceans.

The animated series Octonauts is proving to be an international hit, sold in over 100 territories and airing to huge audiences on CBeebies in the UK, Disney in the US, ABC Australia and SuperRTL in Germany, among others.

Mary Durkan, CEO at Silvergate Media says: “NCircle has a preeminent position as a home entertainment distributor in the US and we are delighted that this deal will allow Octonauts to reach an increased audience of existing and new fans of the show.”

“We’re thrilled to be teaming with Silvergate for the U.S. DVD premiere of Octonauts,” said Debbie Ries, senior vice president and general manager of NCircle Entertainment.  “NCircle’s mission is to provide ‘Entertainment That Educates’ and Octonauts fulfils that beautifully, with its emphasis on teamwork, working towards a goal, and discovery, as well as its amazing CGI depictions of undersea life.”

Silvergate Media holds all audio visual and worldwide licensing and merchandising rights to Octonauts.
