Silent Hill Gets its Star

PITCH BLACKs Radha Mitchell will star in the film adaptation of the hit videogame SILENT HILL, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. TriStar Pictures will release the film in the States. Christophe Gans (BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF) will helm the $45 million-$50 million picture, which has started production in Toronto.

The Konami games story follows Rose (Mitchell) as she searches for her lost daughter in the ghost town of Silent Hill. The screenplay was written by Roger Avary (PULP FICTION). RESIDENT EVIL producer Samuel Hadida's Davis Films developed the film in association with Konami Corp. Hadida will produce with Don Carmody (CHICAGO). Hadida's brother Victor and Andrew Mason (THE MATRIX trilogy) are exec producing.

Hadida's Paris-based distribution company, Metropolitan Filmexport, will handle French-speaking rights with Focus Features taking the rest of the international rights.
