SIGGRAPH Asia 2008: Still Open for Submission

SIGGRAPH Asia, running from Dec. 10-13, 2008, continues to welcome participation as a presenter and contributor. High-quality courses, both theoretical and practical, will be a key part of the inaugural SIGGRAPH Asia 2008. The event invites experts to use this opportunity to share some of their expertise in an engaging way with a high-level international audience. The deadline for submitting original work(s) is coming up on May 19th. SIGGRAPH Asia invites submission of high-quality papers that will set the standard in the field and stimulate future trends. Accepted papers will be presented at SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 and published as a special issue of ACM TRANSACTIONS ON GRAPHICS. In addition to the core topics of modeling, animation, rendering, and imaging, the event organizers also encourage submissions from areas related to computer graphics: scientific visualization, information visualization, computer-aided design, human-computer interaction, computer vision, robotics, and applications such as film special effects and computer games. The deadline is May 28th.

The Educators Program invites industry insiders and educators to participate in this premier platform for presentation of pedagogical papers, Quick Takes (10-minute presentations of project concepts, work in progress, and calls for collaboration), panels, forums, and tutorials on innovative approaches to instruction, the use of computer-generated imagery and interactivity in the classroom, and other research related to educational methodology in the context of computer graphics and interactive techniques. The deadline is June 6th.

The Art Gallery, accepting entries until June 20, welcomes works that especially deal with fusions, intersections, transformations, and paradigm shifts from Asia to the world; works that provoke contemplation, address contemporary issues, and interactively engage viewers in discovery and stimulate intellectual adventure and creativity.

Both the Emerging Technologies and Computer Animation Festival are open for entries until June 20th. Emerging Technologies is seeking creative and innovative technologies, applications, and ideas in these and related fields: Displays, robotics, input devices, interaction techniques, mind-expanding explorations in virtual and mixed reality, haptic interfaces, ubiquitous systems, digital tools, HDTV technologies, computer vision, sensors, audio, speech, biometrics, wearable computing, information, data and scientific visualization, biotechnology, graphics, collaborative environments, design, medicine, music, entertainment, education, business tools, aerospace, communication, transportation, security, military, technologies for the aging and disabled, and more. Professionals, artists, filmmakers, and researchers from throughout the world are invited to participate in the SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 Computer Animation Festival. The event wants examples of experimental spirit, passion, and vision from the future of the computer-animation world.

With a deadline of July 12th, Sketches & Posters provides dynamic forums for new and thought-provoking ideas, techniques, and applications in computer graphics and interactive techniques. This program covers a broad spectrum of topics including digital art, design, science, and engineering. It encompasses ideas ranging from speculation to academic research, from industrial development and practical tools to behind-the-scenes explanations of commercial and artistic work. The event encourages submissions from artists, animators, developers, and researchers from academia and industry, as well as independent work. Students are particularly welcome.
