Shrek Forever After Takes Three-peat at Box Office

DreamWorks Animation's SHREK FOREVER AFTER regained the top spot at the U.S. box office for the weekend of June 4-6, 2010. In it's third week in theaters, the fourth SHREK film earned another $25.3 million. The hit film has now made $183 million in the States.

Universal's raunchy comedy, GET HIM TO THE GREEK, debuted in second with $17.4 million. A new film premiered in third as well. With Asylum VFX, Hirota Paint Industries (HPI) and LOOK! Effects, KILLERS shot up $16.1 million.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME finished fourth with $13.9 million. With visual effects from Double Negative, Bain VFX, BlueBolt, Centroid Motion Capture, Cinesite, Framestore, Lipsync Post, Matte Painting, Mobius MC, The Moving Picture Company (MPC), Nvizage, Nvizible and Peerless Camera Company, the video game adaptation has collected $59.5 million in total.

Plummeting from second to fifth, SEX IN THE CITY 2 shopped another $12.7 million, lifting its cume to $73.4 million.

Fox's MARMADUKE had a disappointing opening weekend in sixth. With vfx from CIS Vancouver, Cinesite, Hydraulx and Rhythm and Hues, the talking animal flick made $11.3 million.

Paramount's IRON MAN 2 landed in seventh, earning another $7.78 million. With visual effects from Industrial Light & Magic, Double Negative, Hydraulx, Centroid Motion Capture, The Embassy Visual Effects, Evil Eye Pictures, Fuel International, Legacy Effects, Lola Visual Effects, Pixel Liberation Front, Pixomondo, Prologue Films, Svengali Visual Effects, The Third Floor and Trixter Film, the summer hit has rocketed in $291.3 million.

Warner Bros.'s SPLICE also had a soft debut in eighth. The creature feature (with vfx from C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures, BUF, K.N.B. Effects Group and Mac Guff Ligne) made $7.45 million.

Universal's ROBIN HOOD arrowed an additional $5.13 million. With vfx from The Moving Picture Company (MPC), Lola Visual Effects, Centroid Motion Capture, FB-FX, Hammerhead Productions and Plowman Craven & Associate, the rethinking of the myth has filled its cash sack with $94.3 million.

Summit Ent.'s romantic comedy LETTERS TO JULIET rounded out the top ten with $3 million, bringing its cume to $43.3 million.
