Shotgun Opens Call for Entries for 2017 Pipeline Awards

Winners to be announced during this year’s SIGGRAPH Conference, taking place July 30 through August 3; deadline for nominations is June 19.

LOS ANGELES -- Shotgun Software is now accepting entries for its annual Pipeline Awards. Returning for a fourth year, the popular Pipeline Awards honor outstanding tools and individuals that make pipelines more manageable for studios of all sizes. Winners will be announced during this year’s SIGGRAPH Conference, taking place July 30 through August 3 in Los Angeles, CA.

Nominations should be sent via email to pipelineawards@shotgunsoftware.com(link sends e-mail) by June 19 for consideration. Include a description of the pipeline tool that caught your attention (whether or not it involves Shotgun), and/or a recap of what your pipeline hero has achieved. Tools may include solutions in development, integration, engineering, or usage. Pipeline heroes not only improve their own studios, but also regularly share best practices and tools with the wider industry.

Last year’s Pipeline Hero Award went to Mammal Studios’ pipeline technical director Janice Collier for her outstanding contribution not only to Mammal, but also the ongoing development of Shotgun’s Toolkit. Shotty Awards for tool development were also awarded to Allan Johns for the development of Rez, an open source environment and package management solution; Blur Studio for Blur Dev Tools, which includes Python integration for Autodesk 3ds Max and is used by studios around the world; Burrows CGI Studio for the Burrows Dropper Ganger Tool which lets artists drag assets from Shotgun in the browser and open them in applications including Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, and Rhino; and Brown Bag Films for their Shotgun Task Triggering Workflow which helps the studio track the steps required to move tasks forward in its asset build pipeline.
