Press Release from Shotgun Software and Rising Sun Research

Shotgun Software and Rising Sun Research (RSR) today announced integration of their workflow solutions catering to visual effects, animation and other digital production studios. Shotgun is a web-based project management and collaboration system and RSR's cineSync is a remote review and approval tool that enables synchronized viewing and annotation of content across the web. Together, they enable teams collaborating across multiple locations to work more efficiently.

"Visual effects artists hold review sessions daily to evaluate their work with supervisors, clients and other artists. cineSync enables remote synchronized sessions with frame annotation. With the Shotgun integration, comments and annotated frames generated during review sessions are recorded as notes in the Shotgun database," said Rory McGregor, Product Manager, cineSync. "By having Shotgun and cineSync work together, end users can optimize workflows, minimize errors, and improve collaboration and communication across facilities and teams regardless of their geographical location."

"Now that remote collaboration is a way of life for our clients, it is important the required workflows are both creatively effective and efficient, "said Don Parker, co-founder and CEO, Shotgun Software. "This integration helps our clients create and update review sessions quickly, and then later publish annotated frames from cineSync directly to the creative team via Shotgun where they are tracked for future reference."

The integration of Shotgun and cineSync will enable efficiencies such as:

* Initiating and updating cineSync sessions quickly from within the Shotgun interface* Publishing review session notes and frame annotations from cineSync into Shotgun with one click, eliminating the need to copy information manually and take additional notes* Storing cineSync session files with the Shotgun playlists for future review* Launching cineSync from Shotgun with one click* Transferring the media to review session guests quickly and easily with integrated FTP, SFTP, HTTP and Aspera clients in cineSync* Having Shotgun follow cineSync sessions in real time, allowing instant access to previous notes, versions and other information* Being able to completely customize all the integration features and add your own functionality
