Perry Chen to Animate Changyou's Journey
Dr. Changyou Chen, the father of 11-year-old movie critic and filmmaker Perry Chen, passed away last week, on July 19, following illness from terminal cancer.
The creator of the family-friendly starfish review system, Perry is the reviewer for Perry’s Previews and a regular AWN contributor. His animated short about the Holocaust, Ingrid Pitt: Beyond the Forest, received the award for Best Animation (age 8-13) at the International Family Film Fest (IFFF) in March, and was the subject of a panel presentation, A Cross-Generation Collaboration: The Inside Scoop of a Comic-Con Success Story, at the San Diego conference earlier this month.
A memorial for Changyou will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 29, at the family's home in San Diego. For memorial event details and to RSVP, send an email to the family by end-of-day Friday.
To commemorate Changyou’s life and legacy, Perry will animate a short film to be called Changyou's Journey. Donations in support of the project are welcome; details on how to donate will be announced on Perry’s website, http://perryspreviews.com.
