Shark Tale Director Sets Up Studio in Marseilles, France

SHARK TALE co-director Eric Bibo Bergeron has set up a new animation studio in Marseilles, France. After spending eight years at DreamWorks, where he also made THE ROAD TO EL DORADO, Bergeron is returning to France to produce and direct his latest projects.

The first 3D film, A MONSTER IN PARIS, will be co-written by Bergeron and Ramzy, the two French comedians on whom the designs for the main characters are based and who will provide the French voiceovers. The film will be entirely produced in France at the new European studio.

This new studio will co-produce international film projects in conjunction with talented filmmakers grouped around Bergeron. Several projects are being discussed with American production groups in the U.S.

In addition, Bibo Films Bergerons original studio based in Paris is expanding and joining forces with Pumpkin-3D and Je Suis Bien Content as exec producers of the 2D-3D black-and-white film, PERSEPOLIS, by first time feature director Marjane Satrapi.

Bergeron's new animation studio comes under Provence Promotion's Home Sweet Home and Start In Provence programs, two initiatives designed to attract and promote dynamic talent and entrepreneurs by offering them assistance in coming to settle and develop their businesses in Provence, France. Provence Promotion, the economic development agency of the Bouches-du-Rhône, was created by the Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the County Council.

Provence Promotion has already teamed with IBM to help and assist new CG companies with their implementation in the Provence region.
