Sfar, StudioCanal Take Bite Out of Little Vampire

Joann Sfar (THE RABBI'S CAT) is set to direct and write StudioCanal's adaptation of her graphic novel LITTLE VAMPIRE GOES TO SCHOOL, reports Variety. The 3-D CG film will be in English.

The story follows a young vampire, who lives with old monsters, that finds friendship with a human boy named Michel. The property is described as a cross between Roger Corman horror films and PEANUTS.

Autochenille is co-developing and co-producing the project. Autochenille's Antoine Delesvaux will produce with Sfar. RANGO producer John Carls is also involved in the development.

StudioCanal's Optimum will release the film in France and the U.K., while its Kinowelt will handle Germany. StudioCanal is repping the worldwide sales.

The production is set for completion by the end of 2013.
