The Setup Machine 2 for Maya enables Maya users to easily and quickly rig a wide variety of CG characters for film, television and game animation. It installs a high-quality control rig and applies accurate skin weighting to human, animal and creature models.
Setup Machine 2 for Maya has been designed to make rigging as easy as possible, without sacrificing advanced rig features, says Raf Anzovin, developer of The Setup Machine. We polled Maya animators to find out what they really wanted in a modern rigcomplete freedom, no restrictions then built TSM2 to provide it. Moreover, you don't have to know anything about rigging to build and use our setups.
TSM2s approach to rigging is completely new. Animators simply fit readymade rig parts called widgets into their model, then click once to do the actual setup and weighting. There is no limitation on how parts are snapped together. The widgets make it simple to construct any body plan, including fantasy creatures like centaurs or tharks. TSM2 for Maya is the only commercial auto-rigging solution for Maya that is fully modular and customizable and includes both a properly functioning quadruped system and a tail/tentacle system with fully adjustable, automated lag.
The rig has been totally rewritten to include modern features such as those developed for Disneys CHICKEN LITTLE and Pixars THE INCREDIBLES. Advanced capabilities include stretchiness on all limbs and in three zones of the head; FK-IK switches on every system, including the spine and head; hyperextension on limbs and digits; an additional forearm and foreleg joint for extra posing control; and full positional and rotational isolation of all controls.
The Setup Machine 2 for Maya is available in versions for Maya 5, 6, 6.5 and 7 running on Microsoft Windows NT, 2000 and XP Professional. A version for Maya 7 running on Macintosh OSX is planned. There is an upgrade path for owners of earlier versions of The Setup Machine for Maya. Site licenses are available for studios and educational institutions.
