Sesame Workshop Ups Chandler To VP Global OutReach

Donna Chandler has been promoted from asst vp to vp of Global Outreach for Sesame Workshop, responsible for managing Sesame Workshops Outreach Initiatives in the U.S., South Africa and Egypt. Chandler will also oversee the creation and management of an outreach program for Bangladesh and Brazil.

Most recently, Chandler coordinated international outreach initiatives and supervised the development of new domestic outreach guides and activity sheets, adapted outreach materials for distribution in Afghanistan, and produced a panel discussion for the PBS Ready to Learn Conference. Chandler assisted more than 150 Public Broadcasting stations with educational outreach workshops for parents and childcare professionals and implemented training workshops.

Chandler joined the Workshop (www.sesameworkshop.org.) as regional director in 1994 where she oversaw the establishment and direction of the SESAME STREET Preschool Educational Program (SESAME STREET PEP) in 89 public broadcast stations.

Donna works tirelessly for the betterment of children and has devoted her life to championing their needs and potential, said Anne Gorfinkel, exec director, Educational Outreach, to whom Chandler reports. In her educational efforts around the world, she is a true advocate for children and the people who care for them. From the streets of Brooklyn to the hills of Appalachia to the sands of Egypt, Donna is a recognized leader who forthrightly advances the mission of the Workshop.

Previously, Chandler held positions at the Manhattan Borough Presidents Office and Colony-South Brooklyn Houses. Chandler started as a New York preschool school teacher.
