Sesame Workshop Appoints VP for Government Affairs

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind SESAME STREET and other educational programs, has announced the addition of Aura Kenny Dunn to its staff as Assistant VP, Government Affairs. In this capacity, Dunn will manage government relations efforts and advance Sesame Workshop's visibility in federal policy and funding arenas to promote education and well-being for children around the globe. She will report to Myung Kang-Huneke, VP, General Counsel.

"Coupling Aura's wealth of experience in government and public television with Sesame Workshop's mission to educate and improve the lives of children naturally presents invaluable ways to advocate on behalf of kids everywhere," says Myung Kang-Huneke. "Her expertise and access within the beltway and the television industry will help Sesame Workshop expand the growing reach of this mission."

Dunn comes to Sesame Workshop from The Greystone Group, where for approximately three years she coordinated legislative affairs on behalf of Sesame Workshop. Prior to joining these efforts, Dunn was a professional staff member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, responsible for the program accounts within the U.S. Department of Education for the Labor, HHS, and Educational Subcommittee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA). In addition, she was a senior policy advisor for Congressman Jack Quinn (R-NY), handling education and children's issues.

Dunn holds a Master of Public Administration from George Washington University and a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She was awarded the Congressional Fellowship from Ford Motor Company, which launched her career in government relations. Dunn serves on the Board of Directors for The Alternative House for Abused and Homeless Children and Teenage Mothers, and is a past board member of the Library of Congress' Child Care Association.
